Media, Educational Content, and Inclusive Engagement

How does content design shape curiosity, empathy, and viewing choices?

This program of research examines how representation in educational media, culturally responsive and emotionally intelligent AI chatbot scripts, and broader content features influence what people choose to watch and how they engage. I collaborate with product teams and writers to review scripts, guide character and context choices, and craft prompts that reflect students’ cultural experiences and emotional needs.

On the audience side, I study what drives viewers to engage with diverse content, including relatability, curiosity, trust, and perceived learning value, and how these factors translate into actual viewing intentions and behavior.
